BRIGHT SPOTS: Stories of kindness

0

Editor’s note: As we’re thinking about what we can do to protect ourselves and our families from illness, we’re sure there are stories of kindness happening in our community as well. We’d like to tell those stories to spread some needed hope and cheer. If you’d like to thank someone for something they did for you, or if you know someone who is going above and beyond to help others, please email a Bright Spot to [email protected].

“'Someone' (Vickie Atkins) sent 'Quarantine Flowers' to her auditor's office team members (Sandy Cain and Linda Axsom) while they were working today (March 19) conducting county business. I am grateful to all the Brown County government employees and their positive spirit of teamwork in maintaining Brown County’s Continuity of Operational Government Plan." -- Diana Biddle Diana Biddle | Submitted

“I had a young mom come into my job a few days ago, looking for formula. She had a baby less than a week old with her. We had two cans of formula left and she didn’t want to be selfish and take both, just in case there was another mom who needed it. An older lady who comes in regularly bought the last can and took it to her because ‘no human, baby, child or adult, should have to go without.’ I had another gentleman today pay the remainder on someone’s total because she was a few dollars short. I could go on and on with the amount of kindness I’ve seen.”

“Very nice young man helped me load sacks of groceries in my van at IGA this week!”

— Nancy Kates

“A lady from a business in Brown County brought us a box of masks into the post office to protect us.”

“This week, a young man dropped off a very generous donation of baby supplies and wipes. He said he knew that baby wipes are currently hard to find, so he’s been buying some whenever he finds them to make sure we don’t run out. We are so thankful for people like this man who make our work possible!

“… We are blessed and we want to share. As long as we can serve food to go, we are here to help. … It brings tears to think there’s hungry kids, family in our neighborhood. Call us and see what’s on the “loving menu” today … whatever Ginger comes up with. It warms her heart to feed a village. Pay what you can on this special menu. Or when things get better, drop us a few bucks. We love our community! So for my birthday (Johnny’s), if you can donate a few bucks to feed others, bless you.”
