ORIGINAL POST Friday evening:

Message from Superintendent Laura Hammack:

“Brown County High School is currently closed until further notice due to a POTENTIAL positive COVID-19 result for an employee. This employee hasn’t been in the building since Monday, March 30th.

“Upon advisement from the Indiana Department of Health, the building is closed until we have confirmation of the test result. We should know this status within 3-5 days. Should the results indicate a positive case, the building will be closed for 2 weeks. If the result is negative, the building will be re-opened upon notification. All staff who worked in the building prior to March 31st have been instructed to stay home until the test results are known.

“The kitchen teams working to prepare meals at BCHS had no interaction with this staff member. We have no concerns about any sort of contamination of the BCHS kitchen and we have no concerns for the individuals involved in food preparation.

“Food service distribution will move to Brown County Junior High School until we have more information. If the result is negative, we will return our meal distribution to BCHS.

“It is important that we maintain the utmost privacy for this employee, so no additional information will be shared at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with our team member during this very difficult time.”
