BRIGHT SPOT: Quaff ON! makes special delivery to fan

Quaff ON! Brewing Company made a special delivery to a fan last week after she posted on Facebook that she needed more of her favorite beer.

Earlier this month, a 93-year-old Pennsylvania woman received 150 cans of Coors Light after a photo of her holding up a dry erase board saying she needed beer went viral on the internet and caught the attention of the maker of Coors Light. The woman was following stay-at-home orders during the pandemic.

When Indianapolis resident Bert Ambuehl ran out of Peanut Butter Busted Knuckle, one of Quaff ON!’s beers, she decided she would try her luck by sharing a photo of herself holding up a similar sign, since she, too, was staying home to protect herself from the virus.

“It worked for some old lady in Pennsylvania, so I thought I would give it a shot!” her Facebook post read.

A friend of Ambuehl’s shared the post to the Big Woods Original Facebook page, one of the restaurants operated by Quaff ON!’s parent company. “When we saw Mrs. Ambuehl’s post, we immediately decided we should make a delivery,” said Quaff ON! brewing company General Manager Derek Clifford.

The management team reached out to Ambuehl via Facebook to get her address and phone number. Two days later, a delivery of three cases of Peanut Butter Busted Knuckle was made, more than an hour from Brown County where the beer is brewed and bottled.

In addition to the beer, the delivery included a care package: Two pint glasses, two cozies, a Quaff ON! hat, a Quaff ON! soft-sided cooler, a bottle opener and decals, Clifford said.

“Mrs. Ambuehl was mowing her yard when we pulled up in the Quaff-mobile. Once she realized what was happening, she did a little hop of excitement and had a huge smile on her face,” Clifford said.
