Ed and Lana (Deckard) Wrightsman will mark their 50th wedding anniversary next week.

They were married June 2, 1970, at Nashville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ernest Stair officiated. Lee Fleetwood was best man and Nancy (Oliver) Bruce served as maid of honor.

The Wrightsmans were born and raised in Brown County and both graduated from Brown County High School. Their parents, Charles and Velma Wrightsman and Leslie and Erlena Deckard, were natives of Brown County as well.

After high school, Ed received a certification in electronics from Sam’s Technical Institute while working evenings at Cummins. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, including a year in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne.

In 1999, Ed retired after 31 years with Cummins. Lana retired that same year after 28 years in banking. Together, they owned and operated the Green Valley Lodge before retiring a second time in 2017.

They spend their time volunteering with the Brown County Music Center and Brown County Parks and Recreation mowing team. Ed is a member of the local VFW Post 6195. Lana has served on various community organizations including the Brown County Community Foundation, the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau board and Psi lota Xi Sorority. The couple enjoys five grandchildren.

Their children, Kara Haven and Kirk Wrightsman, will host an open house on Sunday, June 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Salt Creek Golf Retreat. Please stop by and share a memory. Ed and Lana request no gifts.
