“Jamie” James B. Phillips departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2020 in Houston, TX. He was born on Dec. 25, 1969 in Elkhart, Indiana where he lived for a short time before moving to Brown County, Indiana where he grew up.
Jamie had a great love of the outdoors and animals but what he loved most in life was his children.
He is survived by his sons Adam James and JD Phillips of Houston, TX; mother Kim S (Rob) Cox of Corbin, KY; sisters Rebecca Phillips-Sandefur of York, SC, Mary (Marion) Lawson of Williamsburg, KY, Becky (Danny) Rose of Williamsburg, KY; brother Rick (Laura) Cox of Bloomington, IN; grandparents Walter and Darlene Rood of Bristol, IN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father James Barton Phillips and brother Neil Cox.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be determined at a later date.

Abigail is a Brown County native dedicated to the community in which she has been raised. She joined the Brown County Democrat newsroom in 2019 while studying English at IUPUC, where she graduated in May 2020. After working as the news advertising coordinator for nearly two years, she became reporter in September of 2021. She took over as editor in the fall of 2022.
