Letter: Census and sensibility: Why you should participate

0

To the editor:

How sensible is the Census? I have learned a lot about the 2020 Census recently. For those, like me, who need a reminder, the U.S. Census takes place once every decade.

What I didn’t realize was just how important our Census data can be to our local community. It is critical that all residents of Nashville and beyond participate — for about 15 minutes — in the 2020 Census.

Brown County is lagging hard in our numbers. Why? Please do not be another part of that statistic and take time to do your civic duty to fill out the Census.

Have you ever felt misrepresented by one (or more) of your elected officials? Our local Census results can impact legislative boundaries.

Our community’s attractiveness to various grant providers begins with the U.S. Census. If you enjoy services such as public libraries, state parks, hospitals and schools, please complete the 2020 Census.

How can you help? Simply fill out your Census information by Oct. 31. You will find a packet in your mailbox, or you can go online to www.2020census.gov, or call 844-330-2020 or 844-468-2020 (for Spanish.)

For further assistance, call 844-809-7717 (for English) or 844-809-7718 (for Spanish.)

Change your social media profile by using a U.S. Census filter or frame and use the hashtags #2020Census and #IndianaCOUNTS.

Need money? The Census is still hiring, and especially looking for Census workers who speak English as a second language or are bilingual. Apply at www.2020census/jobs.gov or call 855-562-2020
