A solidarity rally for racial justice is happening this Saturday in downtown Nashville. It will take place at the Four Corners Village Green pavilion from 3 to 6 p.m.

The rally is being organized by a group of people who created a Facebook group under the same name. According to a flyer, the mission is “to provide a space for solidarity, education, awareness and positive change regarding racial injustice in Brown County, Indiana. Our goal is to come together to be better while practicing precautions related to COVID-19.”

The Four Corners are at the junction of Main and Jefferson streets.

The Town of Nashville and the Nashville Police Department will assist with the rally, according to a press release from NPD Police Chief Ben Seastrom. Traffic will be diverted around the event with officers monitoring the entire time, assisting with keeping the rally peaceful, the press release states.

The NPD also asks those who plan to attend to follow social distancing guidelines and to wear face coverings.

Anyone who does not plan to attend the rally is asked to avoid the immediate area. With questions, call the NPD at 812-988-5533.

Brown County Democrat reporter-photographers will be at the event. Look for a story in the June 24 issue.
