To the editor:

Kim Robinson and Shirley Boardman are pleased to announce a successful 23rd Annual Howard Hughes Memorial Mushroom Sale for Brown County Charities. The sale, hosted by the Brown County YMCA and the Brown County Community Foundation, delivered 356.5 pounds of mushrooms at $60 per pound to more than 200 charitable supporters on May 29 and 30.

Thanks to the Brown County IGA for offering space to do the weighing and bagging as well as refrigeration to keep the mushrooms cool.

Bob Kirlin and Kim Robinson made their annual trip to the Indianapolis Airport to receive the shipment.

Thirty-two different Brown County charities will share in the $10,000 payout which will be distributed in early July.

Charities benefiting include the Brown County Art Gallery, Brown County Art Guild, Brown County Weekend Backpack Program, Brown County Community Foundation, Boy Scout Troop 190, Brown County Community Band, Do Something, Friends of Brown County State Park and Friends of the Library, the Garden Club, Habitat for Humanity, Brown County High School, Brown County Historical Society and Brown County Humane Society as well as the Lions Club, Brown County Literacy Coalition, Mother’s Cupboard, the Native Woodland Project, Parkview Church of the Nazarene, the Playhouse, Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship, Indiana Raptor Center, Rotary Club, Salvation Army, St. Agnes youth, St. Vincent de Paul, Tri Kappa, TRIAD, Veterans Association, We Care Gang, Women’s Resource Center and the YMCA.
