Families will have the opportunity to pick up free meals throughout this month, as Brown County Schools’ summer food service program has been extended.

Superintendent Laura Hammack announced the extension in a letter to families last week.

Distribution will now be on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning July 7 and ending July 23. On Tuesdays, families will get three days’ worth of breakfasts and lunches. On Thursdays, four days’ worth of meals will be handed out.

Some distribution locations also will change.

St. David’s Episcopal Church will be the pickup site for the northern part of the county. The church is at the intersection of state roads 135 and 45 in Bean Blossom, across the street from Dollar General.

Meals also can be picked up curbside at Brown County High School beginning July 7.

The pick-up times will be between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Forest Hills Apartments will still be a distribution site. There will be no break in meal delivery at this location, with meals also being delivered on June 29 and July 1 in addition to July 7-23. Forest Hills will keep its normal delivery time.

Meals are available for any child age 18 or younger regardless of financial need. Registration is not required and children do not have to be Brown County Schools students to participate.
