Police responded to a report of a man who accidentally shot himself in the hand at a local hotel over the weekend.

The 52-year-old Ohio man met Nashville Police Officer Heather Burris when she responded to the call at the Seasons Lodge just before 5 p.m. July 31. The victim had his left hand wrapped in a towel and told Burris he’d accidentally shot his hand while trying to place a Glock handgun in his motorcycle bag, according to an incident report by Burris.

He was taken by an ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital for further treatment.

Dispatch confirmed the man had a valid carry permit. The man had other guns in his possession that were also confirmed to be valid through dispatch, and they were released back to him, according to the report.

Sgt. Chad Williams, Cpt. Mike Moore and Det. Paul Henderson with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation along with deputies William Pool and Austin Schonfeld.
