County records its third COVID death

A third Brown County resident has died after contracting COVID-19.

The Indiana State Department of Health recorded the person’s death as having happened on Sept. 8. It was reported on Sept. 10 on the state’s virus map at coronavirus.in.gov.

No other information was reported about this person. Family members are welcome and encouraged to share their story by emailing [email protected].

As of Sept. 10, Brown County had 91 confirmed positive cases of the virus and was in the “blue” zone, the lowest level of virus spread, according to the ISDH.

The two other deaths of county residents occurred on April 5 and Aug. 10. Both were over the age of 80.

Free COVID-19 testing clinic open again

The Brown County Health Department is operating a free, drive-in COVID-19 testing clinic at the Brown County Music Center again.

After closing in August, the clinic reopened on Sept. 2. Free tests for active COVID infections in children age 2 and up and adults are offered five days a week until the end of the year. The schedule for September is as follows:

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesdays and Fridays: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Second, third and fourth Saturdays: 9 a.m. to noon

Sundays, Mondays and holidays: Closed
