Letter: Thanks for organizing event for humane society

To the editor:

Brown County Humane Society would like to pass along a big thank-you to the Brown County Jeep Poker Run group! This amazing group selected us to receive the proceeds of this year’s Jeep Run event that was held on Saturday, Aug. 29 and it resulted in over $6,700 in funds for our new animal shelter.

This event is coordinated by a small group of caring individuals who simply enjoy the combination of sharing their love of Jeeps and giving back to our community. There were many curveballs thrown at you this year due to COVID, but you didn’t back down, and met the challenges head-on for a wonderful event! The weather was great, the people were generous and we couldn’t have enjoyed the experience more.

To everyone who attended, we thank you for your wonderful generosity. In addition to the funds raised during the event, we also received over 800 pounds of donated pet food that will go toward helping the animals in the shelter as well as our community.

A few more thank-yous to share: to Dixie the Praying Dog for making a special appearance and to her human for leading the pack around the County; to Rich Hardesty for some wonderful music during the after-party; to Claire at Trail’s End Saloon for your quick adaptation to change and delicious food; and also to Rich Hofstetter and the crew at Story Inn for accommodating us at the last minute and making it a perfect after-party location.

Thanks to everyone for letting us enjoy the ride!
