FRUITDALE — A three-vehicle crash on State Road 135 North resulted in two drivers being taken to a hospital on Oct. 27.

The crash was reported just before noon near Fruitdale Road, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Bowling.

Ray Fox, 41, of Worthington, was reportedly driving north when he crossed the center line several times. He first struck the left rear of a vehicle driven by Morgan Van Dyke, 28, of Brown County, according to the report.

Fox then reportedly hit a truck driven by Jeffery Howard, 58, of Martinsville, head-on, the report states.

Bowling reported that Fox had a suspended driver’s license and could not provide proof of insurance for his truck. He said he had just purchased it, according to the report.

Van Dyke told police she was driving south when Fox’s truck crossed the center line and hit her vehicle, knocking the rear hubcap off.

A witness following Fox told police that they did see Fox struggle to steer the truck. They also said that Fox’s truck crossed the center line, hitting Howard’s vehicle head-on, but that they did not know Fox had struck the vehicle driven by Van Dyke.

Howard was taken to a hospital by ambulance for internal injuries. Airbags did deploy in the truck, the report states.

Fox was also taken to a hospital by ambulance for a leg and foot injury.

Van Dyke was not injured. All drivers involved were wearing seat belts.
