Two injured in motorcycle crash near Story

STORY — Two people were injured when the motorcycle they were riding went into a ditch off State Road 135 South on Oct. 22.

A witness to the crash told police the driver of the motorcycle, 24-year-old Dakota Neal of Bloomfield, was following him south in the 7000 block of 135 South when Neal pulled out to pass the witness, but then noticed oncoming traffic, according to an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Bowling.

The witness said he slowed down so the motorcycle could complete his pass, but the motorcycle also slowed to get back in behind him, the report states. At this point, the motorcycle’s brakes locked up and Neal lost control. The motorcycle went into a ditch on the east side of the road.

Neal and his wife, Akela Neal, 23, were transported to the hospital. Akela reportedly had a head injury and Dakota had a back injury.

Neither was wearing a helmet, the crash report said.
