Letter: Land upkeep concerns along State Road 135 South

0

To the editor:

I’ll tell you what is going on in our neighborhood. Nothing, because no one cares for our end of the county. It’s all about the town.

Our commissioner, Jerry Pittman, doesn’t care or keep his corner of land. Nor does Susan Showalter her side.

Deer stands go up facing people’s houses.

INDOT can’t do their job along 135 South no matter how many times you call.

Nancy Smith doesn’t keep her easement moved or weed-free. Pittman uses our road to bring his big equipment across and should help keep the road up.

The wash-outs and trash left from the last wash-outs is still built up along the road. The bridge is in horrible shape. Who cares? We do, but being 86 and physically unable to do much, we do try. INDOT called and said they only mow two times a year.

If the culverts from further south were taken care of, debris removed, culvert enlarged, it would help the bridge from having blockage.

All kinds of trash comes floating down for us to try to take care of.

Well, yes, who cares?

Sincerely,

Barbara O. Hoffman, Brown County

P.S. Someone put no trespassing and no parking on the weed-infested corners, election signs and what have you. But mowing, cleaning the site never happens unless a good neighbor from far south brings his equipment and does it.
