Bob and Becki Smith will be celebrated with a surprise 50th anniversary party organized by their children.

They were married Nov. 24, 1970, in Muncie by the Rev. Paul Mansfield at the Church of The Nazarene. Rick Smith served as best man and Ruth Ann Stites served as maid of honor.

Bob served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a sergeant from 1970 to 1972. He also served in the Indiana National Guard from 1972 to 1976. He retired from Borg Warner Automotive in 2003.

Becki earned a bachelor’s degree in both human resource management and political science and has worked in a variety of roles.

The couple moved to Brown County in 2004. They spend their time volunteering with The Salvation Army and have been dedicated members since its opening in 2008.

They have two children and two grandchildren.
