Jack Lewis Welch

Jack Lewis Welch, Sr., age 88, of Bloomington, passed away at 6 p.m. Jan. 14, 2021 at Garden Villa Living Center in Bloomington. He was born Nov. 9, 1932 in Decatur, Indiana and was a former Columbus resident.
Jack served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a security guard with Cummins Engine Company for 30 years. Jack was an ordained minister and had attended the Midway Assembly of God Church. He married Mary “Sue” Welch on Aug. 10, 1971 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home where military honors will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery next to Sue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Due to the COVID statewide mandate, visitors are limited and face coverings and social distancing is required. Jack is survived by his son, Jack L. (Deborah) Welch, Jr. of Surprise, Arizona; daughters, Lourita (Joe) Allio of Brown County and Alice (Patrick) Coen of Anderson; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan, David and Elizabeth Welch, Michelle and Eric Bowling, Coty and Casey Mabe and 3 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife and his parents, Ralph Welch and Ireta Hoffman.
