Online hearings for redistricting begin this week

The Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC), a project by All IN 4 Democracy, has begun virtual public hearings. Voters in each of Indiana’s congressional districts are invited to the meetings to discuss what nonpartisan redistricting criteria should guide Indiana’s map-drawing process and to identify important communities of interest and how they should be grouped together, or kept apart, when new congressional and legislative maps are drawn.

A total of nine Zoom virtual hearings have been scheduled to hear what the public wants from their new districts. The hearing for District 9 — encompassing all of Brown County — is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Public testimony will be compiled in a report that will be given to the Indiana General Assembly before they begin drawing districts later this year.

To register for the virtual hearings, go to us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_jOCUnFlrSqqrITaeeTAKlg.
