Hard Truth Distilling Co. releases new rye whiskey

Hard Truth Distilling Co. has added a new product to its America’s Original Barrel Smoked Whiskey line: Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey. Available Friday, March 26, this rye whiskey is finished, blended and bottled by the Hard Truth team at the distillery in Brown County.

This is the third release in the Sipes’ family of four-year whiskeys and the fifth in the Hard Truth’s America’s Original Barrel Smoked Whiskey lineup. Hand-selected barrels of aged whiskey are rested in new casks that have been toasted, charred and hardwood smoked.

To celebrate this new offering, the Hard Truth Tours & Tastings Center in Brown County, 418 Old State Road 46, will be hosting a release party on Friday, March 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. The first 50 bottles sold there will be custom etched and Master Distiller Bryan Smith will be signing bottles throughout the event. Live music, samples, and a Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey mixology class are also planned that evening.

“Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey is a deep amber with an aroma that features burnt sugar, maple, stone fruit and leathery smoke,” a press release from Hard Truth said. “Smooth and rich on the palate, this whiskey offers a subtle smoke flavor and spiciness with notes of glazed ham, clove, pine nuts, dates and heavy cream. The finish is mild, offering notes of maple sugar, apricot, oak and spice rounded out with hints of lingering campfire smoke and sweet mint.”

Available in 750 mL bottles, Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey is bottled at 90 proof with a 45 percent ABV. It will be available at all Big Woods Restaurant Group locations and at the Hard Truth Tours & Tastings Center, and at select retailers throughout Hard Truth Distilling Co.’s distribution areas.
