JACKSON TWP. — A 50-year-old Brown County man was found dead in a camper on West Robertson Road April 21.

Coroner Earl Piper said on April 22 that he was waiting on the results of a toxicology test before finalizing the cause of death, but he said it was potentially an overdose considering the man’s history and paraphernalia found in the camper. He said the death was not criminal in nature.

Emergency personnel responded to the 600 block of West Robertson Road just before 7:30 p.m. Piper estimated the man had been dead for about 36 hours before his body was found.

The man had been staying in a camper on his father’s property. The last time he had seen his son was around 1 a.m. April 20 when he saw him walking around near the trailer with lights on.

The father was gone all day Tuesday and did not see his son on Wednesday. He called neighbors to go check the camper for him. The trailer was locked from the inside and the neighbor could not see anything, so 911 was called. Officers arrived and reported seeing the man lying on the floor.

Piper said the man also had health issues, and he had used methamphetamine in the past, which may have been a contributing factor if the death is due to a cardiac event.

Toxicology results will be available in about three weeks.
