Indiana woman pleads guilty in mother’s suffocation death

<p>ANDERSON, Ind. &mdash; A central Indiana woman has pleaded guilty to killing her mother, whose body was found wrapped in plastic two weeks after she was suffocated inside her apartment.</p>
<p>Bonnie Katherine Joslin, 35, pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder, auto theft, false informing and identity deception. A Madison County judge set the New Castle woman’s sentencing for June 2. </p>
<p>Mona Joslin Davis’ body was found inside plastic bags in her Anderson apartment in June 2019, two weeks after the 53-year-old was slain, authorities said. </p>
<p>Investigators alleged that Joslin used a pillow to suffocate her mother, <a href="https://www.thestarpress.com/story/news/crime/2021/04/28/new-castle-woman-pleads-guilty-killing-mother/4867515001/">The Star Press</a> reported.</p>
<p>When police found Joslin in New Castle one day after her mother’s body was discovered, she maintained that her mother had moved to Florida a few weeks earlier, according to court documents.</p>
<p>Joslin also allegedly called Madison County emergency dispatchers a few days after her mother’s slaying, claimed she was her mother and said she was en route to Florida.</p>
<p>Authorities said Joslin also sold her mother’s work cellphone and stole a pickup truck her mother had borrowed from a friend.</p>
<p>Following her arrest, Joslin reportedly confessed to her mother’s killing while speaking to a fellow inmate in the Madison County jail, according to court documents.</p>
