BRIGHT SPOT: Community members come together on National Day of Prayer

County leaders, clergy members and locals came together on the Brown County Courthouse lawn to commemorate National Day of Prayer on May 6.

Prayers were made for government officials, first responders, healthcare workers, the schools, the community, the state and the nation.

Pastor Raymond Dupree with The Pentecostals opened and closed the service. He prayed for state government and leaders, county families and healing in the county.

Pastor Tom Ellsworth from Nashville Christian Church prayed for the United States government and leaders. Mary Schaffner with St. Agnes Catholic Church offered a prayer for local government. Pastor Mary Cartwright of Nashville United Methodist Church prayed for first responders and the schools.

Reverend Charles Wright with The Pentecostals prayed for Nashville and Brown County businesses and the economy. William Morris said a prayer for health workers. Jim Schultz offered a prayer for the community and its programs.

Sen. Eric Koch was also in attendance. He prayed for the 30,000 Indiana state workers and their families.
