VAN BUREN TWP. — A 48-year-old North Vernon man was taken to a hospital on April 27 after the vehicle he was riding in crashed and the driver left the scene before police arrived, according to an accident report.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Gibson responded to the crash along with Sgt. Colton Magner and Deputy Zachary Sheppard on Mt. Liberty Road before 10:30 p.m.

Gibson reported that the car had gone straight through a curve and into a field. The vehicle continued through the field before the front dropped into a ditch, causing it to get stuck, the report states.

Erich Lee, the passenger, was taken to a hospital after he reported having neck and chest pain from the seat belt. Gibson reported seeing a red area on his skin from where the harness went across his chest.

The driver was not named in the report.
