Police say a driver who was distracted by a traffic stop on State Road 46 East rear-ended a motorcycle near Salt Creek Road.

On May 13, Scott Kilby, 44, of Nashville, driving the motorcycle, was stopped on 46 East, waiting to turn right onto Salt Creek Road near a traffic stop being conducted by Nashville Police Office Cody Poynter and Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholson Briles.

As Kilby was waiting to turn, he was rear-ended by another vehicle driven by Vicki Scrougham, 59, of Elizabethtown. The impact caused Kilby to fly into the air, according to Poynter’s accident report.

Scrougham told Poynter she was looking at the officers.

Kilby was checked out by EMS, but refused transport to the hospital. He was wearing a helmet. His motorcycle was towed.

Scrougham was not injured. Her vehicle was also towed.
