<strong>Rotary club</strong>

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet over Zoom at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 27<strong>.</strong>

Members of the community, especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to our community, are invited to attend the remote session. Visit RotaryClubofBrownCounty.org and click on the “Contact us” URL to obtain a link to the Zoom meeting.

<strong>Bluebird club</strong>

The Brown County Bluebird Club will meet Tuesday, May 25 at 6 p.m. at the Brown County Public Library, 205 Locust Lane.

A video will be shown after a discussion of the current bluebird nesting season. All are welcome.

<strong>Veterans meetings</strong>

Veterans service organizations of Brown County have various meetings throughout the month, all meeting at Veterans Hall, 902 Deer Run Lane.

<li>Vietnam Veterans of Brown County meet on first Wednesdays. Next meeting is June 1 at 7 p.m.</li>
<li>Veterans of Foreign Wars meet on second Thursdays. Next meeting is June 10 at 7 p.m.</li>
<li>American Legion meets on third Wednesdays. Next meeting is June 16 at 7 p.m.</li>

<strong>Deckard Cemetery Association</strong>

Nineteen people attended the Deckard Cemetery Association annual meeting on May 16 at the cemetery.

<strong>Jim Ault,</strong> association president, presided over the meeting. <strong>Diane Davis-Deckard</strong> read the minutes from the previous meeting. <strong>Jeannie Deckard</strong> gave the financial report. The eldest person in attendance was <strong>Norma Deckard Hillenburg.</strong>

The Marjorie Deckard estate provided a substantial bequest to the cemetery, along with significant donations in memory of Tom, Debbie and Marjorie Deckard. Officers elected for the new year were Ault for president, <strong>Annabelle Henderson Moore</strong> for vice president, Davis-Deckard for recording secretary and Jeannie Deckard for treasurer. Trustees elected were Ault and <strong>Pete Hillenburg.</strong>

A report was given on <strong>Jeannette Richart</strong>, who donated personal items to the Brown County Historical Society in recent months. <strong>Norman</strong> and <strong>Debra Brennon</strong> were acknowledged for cutting up and hauling off two trees that fell in the cemetery.

Jeannie Deckard reported that a bench in memory of her daughter, Debbie, will be placed between the doors of the church, donated by Debbie’s friends. <strong>Valerie Edmunds</strong> and <strong>Rhonda Dunn,</strong> representatives from Brown County Historical Society, brought flags for the veterans’ graves, along with an update list of all the veterans buried in the cemetery.
