<strong>Rotary club</strong>

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet over Zoom at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 3.

The guest speaker will be Lynn Coyne, Ivy Tech Bloomington trustee, who will discuss how Ivy Tech creates value for Indiana and especially Brown County, part of its service area. He will update us on how the campus is faring during the pandemic and how Ivy Tech is playing a vital role in workforce development in the current environment of high demand.

Coyne served as the president of the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation from 2014 to 2019 following his retirement as assistant vice president for real estate and associate counsel at Indiana University.

Before joining the university, Coyne had a private practice with a focus on real estate law, along with development, business transactions, and real estate planning. Coyne managed all of the real estate assets of Indiana University throughout the state and served as its real estate attorney as well as counsel in various other transactions.

Coyne has received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service from Indiana University, the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.

Coyne holds a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in East European languages and literature (Russian) from IU.

<strong>Veterans meetings</strong>

Veterans service organizations of Brown County have various meetings throughout the month, all meeting at Veterans Hall, 902 Deer Run Lane.

<li>Vietnam Veterans of Brown County meet on first Wednesdays. Next meeting is June 2 at 7 p.m.</li>
<li>Veterans of Foreign Wars meet on second Thursdays. Next meeting is June 10 at 7 p.m.</li>
<li>American Legion meets on third Wednesdays. Next meeting is June 16 at 7 p.m.</li>
