Indiana photo entries wanted for display at airport

INDIANAPOLIS — The Arts Council of Indianapolis and The Nature Conservancy in Indiana invite artists to submit photographs and photo-based artworks highlighting the natural beauty of Indiana for consideration for display at the Indianapolis International Airport for a three-month period beginning in August 2021.

The winning entries will be part of “Indiana, Naturally,” which will be on display from Aug. 9 through Dec. 10 at the Indianapolis International Airport.

The deadline to apply is Sunday, June 27 by midnight. A full list of rules and categories can be found at indyartsguide.org/classified/photographers-sought-for-indiana-naturally-a-nature-photography-competition.

The Nature Conservancy’s preserves in Indiana should be strongly considered as subjects for entries. All other things being equal, greater preference will be given to images taken at TNC preserves. Find a nearby conservancy preserve at nature.org/indianastaycation.

More than 90 paintings illustrate his journey painting the park in all seasons and times of day. Greatbatch worked with retired naturalist Jim Eagleman to document each painting. A number of events are planned through the run of the exhibit including a town hall-style celebration inviting park lovers to share stories with Eagleman and the artist, a program by Jon Kay called “Postcards from the Park,” an exhibit of long views by the early artists and much more. All the paintings will be offered for sale with part of the proceeds to benefit the Gallery Foundation. The showcase will be from Oct. 2 through Nov. 14.
