The Brown County Health Department is moving to its new location on Thursday, June 17.

The new address will be 200 Hawthorne Drive, Nashville, in the same area as the McDonald’s restaurant and IGA store. The new health department office is the old Nashville police station next to the car wash (pictured above). 

The health department has been housed in the second floor of the County Office Building on Gould Street, though since the pandemic started, the nursing division has been working in the Brown County Music Center while other staff work at their original office.

The health department is the office you visit to get septic permits, birth and death records and certificates and food licenses.

The phone number at the new office will remain the same: 812–988–2255. The hours of operation also will remain the same, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The nursing division will continue to test for and vaccinate against COVID-19 at the Brown County Music Center Clinic until the end of the day on Wednesday, June 30. The clinic will then be closed July 1 and July 2. After that date, the nurses will operate out of the new office, 200 Hawthorne Drive.
