Paul Eugene Mathis, 66, of Nashville peacefully went to be the Lord on Friday, July 9, 2021 after a four and a half years battle with cancer.
Paul, a lifelong Brown County resident, was born on June 6, 1955 to Samuel and Emma (Snyder) Mathis.
He graduated from Brown County High School in 1974 and married his loving wife of 43 years, Debbie (Allender) Mathis on June 10, 1978.
A carpenter by trade, Paul worked for both Hardin and West Construction before being employed with the Monroe County Community School Corporation for the past 31 and a half years. Paul was a very hard worker who enjoyed being outdoors. He loved spending time with his wife Debbie, son, Ronnie (Jamie) Mathis, and grandkids, Lauren and Coleman Mathis.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harold, George and Richard Mathis, and three sisters, Doris Kelp, Beulah Austin and Connie Sue Mathis.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, son and daughter-in-law, grandkids, and sisters, Sarah Smith, Mary (Darrell) Lucas, and Bonnie (John) Rihm, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Monday, July 12, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13 at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Bond officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.
