This coming Saturday, July 17 from noon to 3 p.m., the Brown County Humane Society (BCHS) invites you to join us to celebrate the official grand opening of our new animal shelter.

Operations began in the new facility in June, but finishing touches, including paving the parking lot and installation of climbing walls in our cat community rooms, were still being completed this week. We wanted the building to be as close to perfect as possible for our supporters before having our official celebration. And, now we are ready to party!

The day will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon. After that, the new facility will be open to everyone for tours and we will have hot dogs, chips, drinks and fun music to celebrate this wonderful day.

The Brown County community and the BCHS network of supporters are the people who made this building possible. These donations created a create a shelter that better serves not only the animals, but also the staff, volunteers and the hundreds of visitors we see every single year.

The animals are now enjoying an environment that is better for their mental and physical health. Dogs are no longer forced to spend their day staring at one another, cats are able to free-roam in community rooms, and both are able to enjoy an amazing view with outdoor living spaces.

Staff are able to better serve our visitors in the expanded space, and the meet-and-greet rooms are used daily to allow potential adopters to interact one-on-one with the animals.

We are thrilled to finally be able to celebrate this new facility with you this weekend.

Reminder: BCHS is now operating with regular business hours of Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. We are closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. While appointments are no longer required, they will take priority over walk-in visitors.
