Jacqueline Malan, born October 2, 1960 in Columbus, IN, daughter of Fred and Joann Malan, died on Monday, July 12 at the age of 60.
Raised in southern Brown County, Jackie was always immaculately dressed for the occasion, whether that be traipsing through the woods or attending a fancy event. A hippie and rebel at heart, she espoused support for the underdog and an appreciation of the beauty and power of both music and nature.
Conversely, she never backed down from a fight and was quick to defend and provoke the ones she loved.
She spent her final years back in Brown County, where her beauty, hospitality and prowess in the kitchen were well known. Her humor and spark were undeniable and irreplaceable.
She is survived by her children, Darien (Maria) Carter, Ian (Heather) Carter, and Bianca (Aaron) Smith; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by two siblings, her sister Vicky Gorbett Wyatt and brother Michael (Charrie) Malan.
She was preceded by her father, Fred Malan and her nephew Reese Malan.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 25 at the Brown County State Park Recreation Building at 2 p.m.
