Phyllis A. (Petry) Riley

Phyllis A. (Petry) Riley, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. She was a resident of Unionville.

Phyllis was born December 10, 1940, in New Castle to her parents, the late Verlin and Iva (Samuels) Petry. She was a 1958 graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. Phyllis married Gerald “Gerry” Riley on March 10, 1978 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2011 after 33 loving years of marriage.

Phyllis worked for various companies in the Sales and Bookkeeping department throughout her life. She retired in 2011 from Ferguson House in Nashville after 13 years of service. Phyllis loved to spend time in the outdoors by birdwatching, hiking in Tennessee and taking care of her animals; Muffin and Squirt. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She will be missed by her children: Shari (Jim) Allison, Rick (Bev) Fenter, Stacey (Jim) Cleveland, and Scott (Donna) Riley; brothers: Charlie (Lynn) Petry and Steve (Teresa) Petry; grandchildren: Tyler (Heather) Allison, Jason (Courtney) Cleveland, Kellie Cleveland, Angie (Mary) Cheek, Mike Allison, Ashley Fenter, Kyle (Libby) Fenter, Mary Lacy, and Suzy (Bobby) Thacker, 14 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Verlin and Iva, step-mother: Mary Jane Petry and husband Gerry.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 20th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
