Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 in the lower level of the Brown County Community Foundation, 209 N. Van Buren St., or via Zoom.

The guest speaker will be Xiang Zhang, a leadership coach who advises managers and directors of Fortune 500 companies from Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. He will discuss what coaching is, illustrated with a story from ancient China, why it works and how to become one, and his experience being a coach from a Chinese perspective.

Xiang’s nexus to Brown County is that he was a colleague of Rotarian Mike Heil when they both worked for Alcoa in Qinhuangdao. Xiang left Alcoa to earn an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. After graduation, he lived in Chicago for many years before returning to China and starting his coaching practice. He lives in Suzhou, a major city on the lower Yangtze known for its canals, bridges, pagodas and gardens, with his wife and son.

Members of the community, especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to our community, are invited to attend the remote session. Visit RotaryClubofBrownCounty.org and click on the “Contact us” URL to obtain a link to the Zoom meeting.
