To the editor:

My congratulations to Sara Clifford for her new position at the Indiana Journal of Earth Sciences. I’m sad to see such a competent and conscientious editor leave The Democrat, but welcome Brown County native Suzannah Couch into this job.

And what a thankless job it is—attending governmental meetings, photographing our citizens’ awards and triumphs, and attempting to report the news clearly from an unbiased viewpoint.

We are so lucky to continue to have a local newspaper in these times when most of them have disappeared. I wish Editor Couch the best of luck.
