GREENFIELD, Ind. — A state trooper who stopped a car for following too closely to another vehicle on an Indiana highway found more than four pounds (1.8 kilograms) of pure fentanyl and nearly 16 pounds (7.2 kilograms) of pills believed to be laced with the drug.

The drugs were beneath the rear passenger seat of the car that was pulled over Monday on Interstate 70 near Greenfield and east of Indianapolis, state police said Wednesday in a release.

The 39-year-old driver was jailed on dealing in a drug, possession of a narcotic drug and cocaine possession charges.
