Movie night

in Deer Run Park

Bring a chair and a blanket to enjoy a showing of “The Princess Bride” on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

Brown County Parks and Recreation will show the movie at Deer Run Park, 1001 Deer Run Lane. Admission is free.

Pumpkins on Parade

Brown Bike Eatery and Drinkery, 110 North Van Buren Street, will host “Pumpkins On Parade” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 31.

Over 100 lighted pumpkins, all carved by Brown County Middle School and High School art students and the Salvation Army’s 4Twelve Youth Group, will be displayed along the restaurant’s street-side patio.

Friendly Forest

The Jackson Township Fire Department, 4831 Helmsburg Road, will host trick-or-treating for all ages on Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 22, 23, 29 and 30.

Costumes are encouraged and free candy bags will be provided. Snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Tickets are $1 per child and free for adults accompanying children. All proceeds go to educational programs and training for the department.

Chocolate Walk

Buy your tickets now to sample over 35 yummy chocolate treats while strolling through Nashville next month.

The Brown County Humane Society is selling tickets for their 14th annual Chocolate Walk. Advance tickets are $25 through Oct. 31 and $30 from Nov. 1 to Nov. 13. The Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Halloween

in the Hills

Brown County State Park will celebrate Halloween with festivities including a campground decorating contest, pumpkin carving contest, a “Park After Dark Trail” and more.

The events are scheduled for Oct. 23 in the state park. Gate fees apply.

Community

trick-or-treat

Brown County Parks and Recreation and the Brown County YMCA are celebrating Halloween by hosting trick-or-treat on the Salt Creek Trail.

The event will be located in the YMCA parking lot in Nashville, 105 Willow St., on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Costumes and bags for candy are encouraged.

Parking will be available in the Brown County Music Center parking lot. Trick-or-treaters are asked to enter the YMCA lot, proceed to the trail, and walk in one direction through the stations. A shuttle will be available from CVS to the YMCA.

This event is a neutral zone and absolutely no political campaigning is allowed.

Parks and rec and the YMCA are also looking for volunteers and candy donations for the trick-or-treat on the Salt Creek Trail event.

Nashville

trick-or-treat

Nashville will be welcoming trick-or-treaters this spooky holiday.

Trick-or-treating will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31 in town. A “trunk-or-treat” in local parking lots is also planned with more details to come.

There are 30 shops in Nashville that will be handing out candy on Halloween.

Cabin Fever 5k Run/Walk

A 5k run/walk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 at noon in Deer Run Park. The majority of the race will be on an unpaved trail.

Registration for the annual Cabin Fever 5K will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The pre-registration fee is $20 and race day registration is $25.
