VETERANS’ CORNER: November features celebrations to honor veterans

I can’t believe that November is already here!

November is full of events with regards to veterans and with one of the most memorable branches, the U.S. Marine Corps, celebrating their birthday to start things off for what is considered a long weekend.

But in all seriousness, we look forward to celebrating and encouraging our veterans with the upcoming Veterans Day event and spending the month fostering thankfulness for everything and everyone around us.

State benefits

Did you know that there is a Military Family Relief Fund that assists veterans who are experiencing a genuine financial hardship?

You can visit the website www.in.gov/dva/about-idva/links/military-family-relief-fund/ or you can contact our office for more information. We also have pamphlets available at the Brown County Veterans Service Office, 902 Deer Run Lane.

November events

Important: There will be a Veterans Day event this year at the Brown County High School Larry C. Banks Gymnasium on Nov. 12 starting at 9 a.m. with coffee and donuts being served and our main event beginning at 10 a.m.

For veterans who plan to attend, we need you to RSVP to the event. Please contact our office at 812-988-5600 so that we can ensure you are accounted for.

We also want to extend our thankfulness to the Brown County School Corporation Superintendent Emily Tracy and the Brown County Schools staff who have worked diligently to think about and to prepare to reintegrate one of the most valued celebrations for veterans back into their school system through this COVID-19 season.
