John V. Davis, 92, of Nashville, IN passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. He was born October 4, 1929 in Rockford, IL the son of the late Carl and Ruth Foster Davis.
John graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1947. He graduated from Hanover College in 1953. He then graduated with his Masters in Teaching at Indiana University. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church
John enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and was very active in his community. He lead many organizations throughout the years including: President of the Brown County Town Council, The Brown County Community Foundation, Coordinator of Science and Health Education for the South Bend Community School Corporation, Coordinator of Textbook Commission, Member of the Indiana State Board of Education, Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc., Science Education Foundation of Indiana, State of Indiana Science Fair, and the Brown County Lions Club.
John was also an Eagle Scout. He received the Key to the City in Nashville, IN and also organized the Street Sweepers of Nashville. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his four children, Dr. John K. (Thandi) Davis, JoEllen (Jeff) Meuninck, Jennifer (Sarah) Davis, and Jeff Davis; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.
Funeral services to celebrate his life were held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Nashville United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Mary Cartwright. Interment with military honors followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the ceremony.
