Dennis Lee Blake

Dennis Lee Blake, age 81 years and 5 months of Brown County, passed Dec. 4, 2021 while in Community South Hospital. He was born July 3, 1940 at home to the late Chester Blake and Carrie Reddick. Dennis married the love of his life, Mary Jane on Oct. 27, 1961 in Lynhurst Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: a brother Robert Blake and sisters Shirley Blake and Charlotte Murphy and brothers-in-law: Vincent Pearson, Alex J. Pearson, and Jack Lowery.

Cherishing his memory is his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane; daughter, Teresa Blake Whitaker (David), and son Timothy Blake; grandkids: Nicole Whitaker (Caitlin), David J. Whitaker (Ryan), Brandon Blake (Brandi), Cheyenne Brown (Shane), Hunter Ellis, and Josie Whitaker; great grandkids: Taylor & Wyatt Lucas, Brendon Miller, Gabbriella and Natalyn Blake, lots of nieces, nephews and cousins; siblings Mary Wolf, Allen Blake (Norma), Nelda Shoemaker (Dave), sisters-in-law: Doretta Blake, Judy Lucas (Kenny), Vivian Lowery and Marie Hansen (Bob), and Cathy Pearson.

Dennis was a teamster working 20 years for Rolling Mills Warehouse and later worked an additional 10 years, retiring from Consolidated Freight in September 2002. He volunteered for the Gatesville Fire Department from 1972 – 1992, holding the position of Chief for 7 years. He had a love of farming and family. Dennis will be remembered most for his great story telling, love of life and dedication to his family.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
