An oven for grandma, new clothes and shoes, sweatshirts for hairless pets, new phones for family members and pairs of gloves are just some of the unique Christmas wishes first-graders in Brown County have this year.

They also dreamed big, asking Santa for puppies, kittens, LEGOs, Transformers, gymnastic bars, dirt bikes and hoverboards.

The Brown County Democrat asks all Brown County first-grade teachers to make letters to Santa one of their classroom activities each year. Now we present these precious words and wishes for you to enjoy just in time for Christmas.

Inside this section, in their own words, you’ll learn all about the students’ families and pets, how they feel about their previous gifts and of course, what they’d like to see under their trees this year.

Some students wrote to Santa requesting presents for not only themselves, but for friends, parents, siblings, cousins and their teachers. They were curious this year, too, asking questions about the North Pole, the reindeer, Elf on the Shelf and Santa himself.

We present these letters un-spelling-corrected as a keepsake for kids to look back on later in life. We think our readers will agree that the letters are even cuter this way, too.

After another year of changes and loss these tiny students and their wishes are surely to be a bright spot for many.
