Gary L. Shafer passed away December 22, 2021. Gary was born January 22, 1968, in Columbus, Indiana. He attended Brown County High School and spent several years installing carpet.
Gary enjoyed spending his time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding dirt bikes. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son, Cody and his granddaughters.
Gary is survived by his mother, Susan Hurt; stepfather, Arthur Hurt Sr.; his son, Cody (Amy) Thompson; granddaughters, Brooklyn Thompson, Khloe Proctor, Kylee Proctor, and Kalani Proctor; brother, Jon “Matt” Shafer (Lisa Gardner); sister, Stacy Shafer; stepsister, Arin (Tim) Larrison; stepbrother, Arthur Hurt Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth P. “Kenny” Shafer and nephew, Joshua Shafer.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take. There will be no service.
Arrangements were entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home and Crematory in Columbus.
