Kyokushin karate training available

Kyokushin karate training in Brown County, under the supervision of Sensei David Michaelis, is now accepting new students.

The location of the training is to be determined and will be discussed with participants.

Michaelis has trained in and taught Kyokushin karate for over 40 years. Kyokushin is a style of stand up, full contact karate. It was founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese karate master Sosai Masutatsu Oyama.

Kyokushinkai is Japanese for “the society of ultimate truth,” and is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and training. Kyokushin provides a foundation for improving physical and mental discipline. It fosters humility, perseverance and non-violence.

Classes will take place on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m., but times are flexible to accomadate students’ schedules.

There are currently a few openings available for new students. Classes are limited to those aged 16 and over who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. For more information, contact Michaelis at 812-360-5891 or at [email protected].
