Harry R. Eck

Harry R. Eck, age 63 passed away all too soon on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. He was a resident of Brown County.

Harry was born Aug. 24, 1958 in Beech Grove to his parents, the late Frank and Bessie (Thomas) Eck. He attended Brown County High School and went on to retire in 2009 from Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood where he worked as the Sexton for over 28 years.

Harry was a member of the Brown County Abate. He enjoyed riding his Harley and racing cars at the Brown County Dragway. Harry listened loudly to rock ‘n’ roll music and enjoyed listening to bands with family and friends at the Port Hole Inn at Lake Lemon. He was a fan of wrestling and the tv shows, MTV’s Ridiculousness and Counting Cars on the History Channel. Harry loved caring for his cat, Keke.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Charity A. (Simon) Eck, whom he married on Aug. 25, 1979 in Brown County. Harry is also survived by his daughter, Jessica Eck of Brown County; grandson, Taj Eck of Brown County; siblings, Margaret (Larry) Fox of Brown County and Frances Cavendar of Greenwood; sister-in-law, Debbie Eck of Brown County; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter ‘Butch’ Eck; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Cavendar.

The Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service on Monday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Needmore Cemetery in Brown County.
