Friday, Nov. 11 will be Veterans Day at the Brown County High School – Larry Banks Gymnasium, 235 School House Lane. Veterans Social Hour begins at 8:30 a.m. and the ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m. All veterans are welcome — bring your family too!
Saturday, Nov. 12 the Vietnam Veterans are hosting a Bean Dinner at the Veterans Building, 902 Deer Run Lane, starting at noon.
Operation Green Light
This marketing campaign is a national campaign through the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers to bring awareness and support to our Veterans and Service members.
We are asking the community to think outside the box with this campaign and put one green light bulb up on your house or place of business starting in October and going all the way through Nov. 11. We want to see green lights everywhere in the county, showing your support for our Veterans and our Troops!
Other updates
The PACT Act is the biggest piece of legislation that was signed by the president on Aug. 10, 2022, that would impact veterans and the VA.
This legislation opened the doors to impact more Vietnam veterans, more Persian Gulf veterans and more Post-9/11 veterans with more presumptive conditions to file for with regards to VA Disability and toxic burn pit exposure.

Is your business interested in supporting veterans through charitable giving? Are you an individual who is interested in supporting Veterans through charitable giving? The Brown County Veteran Services Office is accepting donations (cash or check) to help support our veterans of Brown County through new ordinances that created non-reverting funds for the Brown County Veteran Services Office.
The funds are not taxpayer dollars, but instead are strictly donations and the funds do not go back into the County Government general funds at the end of the year.
The funds are listed below in a summary and the ordinance for these funds can be found at the Brown County Recorder’s Office:
1. Veterans Transportation Network Fund: Directly supports Access Brown County by helping pay for maintenance and operational support while it continues to transport veterans to their VA appointments in Bloomington, Martinsville, Camp Atterbury and Indianapolis. You can mail checks to Brown County Veteran Services Office, c/o Veterans Transportation Network Fund, 902 Deer Run Lane, Nashville, IN 47448.
2. Financial Assistance for Brown County Veterans Fund: Supports veterans who are struggling to pay for needs such as housing, utilities and travel. These funds will be supplied directly to the collector and an application for support must be submitted by the veteran before receiving any payments. You can mail checks to Brown County Veteran Services Office, c/o Financial Assistance for Brown County Veterans Fund, 902 Deer Run Lane, Nashville, IN 47448.
We encourage you to give in this way to assist our veterans of Brown County. Your support is greatly appreciated and if you cannot give personally, tell your friends and family about these opportunities to give.
Access Brown County is looking for drivers to transport veterans.
If you are interested in becoming a paid driver for Access Brown County, please apply at the Brown County Community YMCA building in person or call 812-988-0185 for more information on how to become a driver.

If you are a veteran and need transportation assistance to your medical appointments, contact Access Brown County at 812-988-0185 to schedule your ride. These rides are for all age groups of veterans, and they are free.
