Veterans organizations

Veterans service organizations of Brown County have various meetings throughout the month, all meeting at the Veterans Hall, 902 Deer Run Lane. The Veterans Hall is a government facility and is alcohol free.

Vietnam Veterans of Brown County meet on first Wednesdays.

Veterans of Foreign Wars meet on second Thursdays.

American Legion meets on third Wednesdays.

American Legion Riders (ALR) Group meets on second Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Bald eagles

The Brown County Bald Eagles will host a Pearl Harbor remembrance at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Brown County Inn, 51 State Road 46 East. Meet and greet will start at 11 a.m. and a buffet lunch at noon. The meal will be $25 cash or check paid at the door.

At the upcoming meeting, Jim Olivi will be telling the story of his uncles involvement as a copilot on “Bockscar” the B-29 that dropped the second atomic bomb on Japan that ushered in the end of World War 2.

The Brown County Bald Eagles have been meeting twice a year around D-Day (June 6) and Pearl Harbor Day (Dec. 7) for more than 30 years.

The group is made up of active duty Military and Veterans and others who have an interest in aviation and aviation history. The public is invited, dress is casual. RSVP is requested by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 30. For more information, call 812-988-2377 or email [email protected].

Bridge and euchre clubs

Brown County Parks and Recreation is currently seeking additional players for its Bridge Club and Euchre Club. Those interested should contact parks and rec at 812-988-5522.

Bluebird club

The Brown County Bluebird Club is again offering fully assembled cedar bluebird nest boxes for $15 each or two for $25. If interested, call Dan Sparks at 812-200-5700.
