Classes, resources available at CRC

The Career Resource Center, 260 Schoolhouse Lane, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays. The CRC is closed on the weekends.

The Work ONE office is open is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays.

The CRC also offers the WIN career readiness system that gives anyone seeking a job or taking a course the “tools, confidence and skills to excel in their career path and in life.”

The 2023 Electrical Cohort for master electrician begins Jan. 24, 2023. Call to register 812-988-5880.

Community CPR and First Aid Certification will be held Dec. 5 and 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Applications now open for scholarship

Applications are currently open for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship through the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 in financial aid to aspiring teachers.

High school and college students who are planning to teach in the Indiana for at least five years can receive up to $7,500 per year of college from the scholarship.

Interested students can apply at ScholarTrack.IN.gov. The application period will close on Jan. 31, 2023.

To qualify for the scholarship, students must meet one of the following academic requirements:

Rank in the top 20% of their high school graduating class

Have a top 20th percentile score on the ACT (26) or SAT (1130)

Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

Students who earn the scholarship must continue to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), earn at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least 30 credit hours per year.

The Commission will review all applications and notify applicants of their scholarship status via email by March 24, 2023.
