Sleepy Cat Studio holiday open house

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, five local artists will bring new artwork, handcrafted holiday decorations and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts to a one location, at artist Monique Cagle’s Sleepy Cat Studio.

Cagle will show and sell her own work, which includes handcrafted fabric animals, jewelry, paintings, fiber art and painted glass.

She has also invited four other local artists to display their work.

Amy Greely will have her handcrafted nature-inspired jewelry. Rosey Bolte of The Uncommon Gourd will have hand-painted folk art gourds. Dixie Ferrer will have her original mixed media paintings, along with journals and bookmarks featuring her artwork and Michele Heather Pollock of Lost Lake Studio will have stitched paper bookmarks, ornaments and forest-inspired framed artwork.

‘Songs of the Season’ in concert series

BEAN BLOSSOM — The Bean Blossom Concert Series at St. David’s Episcopal Church, at the corners of State Road 135 North and State Road 45, will present baritone Bruno Sandes and soprano Cathy Compton at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.

The concert will feature carols and songs of the season. A wine and cheese reception will follow the event.

Multiple shows, sales at guild

The Brown County Art Guild, 48 S Van Buren St., will feature multiple shows and sales at the gallery through winter months.

Guild member artists bring their award-winning artwork for display and sale in the Artist Exhibition and Sale, open through Dec. 26.

Interiorscapes: Special Exhibition and Sale is on display through Monday, Dec. 26 at the guild.

Visitors can enjoy the varied and captivating scenes on display.

The guild is also displaying Peaceful Valley: Historic Collection Exhibit now through Sunday, Jan. 15.

The collection features works that depict the Brown County landscape, a favorite subject among many generations of artists.

In December the guild is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. January hours are Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.

More acts announced for music center

The Brown County Music Center, 200 Maple Leaf Blvd., continues to announce new shows for 2022 including Starship and Night Ranger.

Starship featuring Mickey Thomas will perform on Dec. 17. Starship is most known for their hit songs “We Built This City,” “Sara” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.”

“Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute” will be performed on Dec. 31. The show will feature Kyle LaPato, Bobby Lee Stamper, Kevin Feller, Corey Baetz and Chris Jones.

The Wallflowers will perform on Dec. 16 as part of their “WTTS Holiday Can Concert” tour. The band is known for their hits including “Bringing Down the Horse” and “Glad All Over.”

Sara Evans will perform on Dec. 11 as part of her “Go Tell it on the Mountain” tour. Evans is the fifth most-played female artist on country radio in the last two decades.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will perform their Wild & Swingin’ Holiday Party on Dec. 7. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is an American swing and jazz band known for their arrangements of classic holiday songs.

Christmas Carol on the Playhouse stage

“A Christmas Carol” will be performed on Dec. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.
