Art briefs for week of Dec. 20

Apply for guild’s annual patron, young artist exhibition

The Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St. will host its Annual Patron & Young Artist Exhibition from Jan. 21 through Feb. 18, 2023.

Artists 18 years of age and older are welcome to enter up to two submissions. The cost is $40 for the first submission, and includes a one-year membership to the guild. There is a discounted fee of $20 for an optional second submission.

Artists 17 years of age and younger may enter up to two framed submissions at no cost.

Prizes will be awarded in both divisions.

Guild artist Jeff Hagen will be the judge.

Submissions must be framed and ready to hang. 2-D work in any medium is accepted except fine art photography. 3-D art work is also accepted.

Artwork cannot have been previously shown at the guild. All artwork must remain on display and be available for sale for the entire show. A 40% patron and 20% youth contribution to the guild for any works sold.

A brief biography with submission is required. A 1 to 3 megabyte jpeg file at 600dpi must accompany each entry and be emailed to [email protected], with the Patron Art Show Competition in the subject line.

Drop-off dates and times: Friday, Jan. 6 and 13 through Sunday, Jan. 8 and 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be an awards and artist reception on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m., with awards presented at 3 p.m.

New Years Eve show at Brown County Music Center

The Brown County Music Center, 200 Maple Leaf Blvd., will hold one more concert in 2022 on New Years Eve.

“Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute” will be performed on Dec. 31. The show will feature Kyle LaPato, Bobby Lee Stamper, Kevin Feller, Corey Baetz and Chris Jones.

Shows planned through next month at art guild

Interiorscapes: Special Exhibition and Sale is on display through Monday, Dec. 26 at the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S Van Buren St.

Visitors can enjoy the varied and captivating scenes on display.

The guild is also displaying Peaceful Valley: Historic Collection Exhibit now through Sunday, Jan. 15.

The collection features works that depict the Brown County landscape, a favorite subject among many generations of artists.

In December the guild is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. January hours are Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
