Both Town of Nashville and Brown County governments are searching for applicants for boards and commissions in 2023.
The original deadline to apply for roles on county boards and commissions was Dec. 7.
Brown County Auditor Julie Reeves said last week the application window will probably be reissued because not enough applications were initially received.
She said she would like to see more community interest in filling these positions.
“I would like to see more people get involved with their community and know more about what these boards are about and take an interest,” she said.
The Brown County Council is accepting resumes and/or letters of interest for four appointments:
- PTBOA, one appointment, one-year term;
- Brown County Parks and Recreation Board, one appointment, four-year term;
- Brown County Redevelopment Commission, one appointment, one-year term;
- Brown County Area Plan Commission, one appointment, four-year term.
The Brown County Commissioners are also accepting resumes and/or letters of interest for appointments to the following boards and commissions:

- Brown County Convention and Visitors Commission, one appointment, one-year term;
- Helmsburg Regional Sewer Board, one appointment, four-year term;
- PTABOA, one appointment, one-year term;
- Brown County Redevelopment Commission, three appointments, one-year term;
- Brown County Area Plan Commission, one appointment, four-year term;
- Brown County Community Corrections Advisory board, lay person.

In addition to the county, the Nashville Town Council will be making 2023 board and commission appointments in January.
Applications to be considered for appointment to a board or commission are now available on the town’s website pages at townofnashville.org. The deadline for applications is Friday, Jan. 6.
Town council is seeking applicants for the following boards and commissions:
- Alcoholic Beverage Commission, one appointment, one-year term;
- Brown County Animal Control Commission, one appointment, one-year term;
- Brown County Zoning Board of Appeals, one appointment, term expires Dec. 31, 2024;
- Nashville Arts &Entertainment Commission, five appointments, three-year term;
- Nashville Development Review Commission, seven appointments, one- to four-year terms;
- Nashville Tree Board, five appointments, one-year term;
- Nashville Town Park Commission, five appointments, two-year term;
- Nashville Redevelopment Commission, five appointments, town residents only, one-year term;
- Nashville Parking and Public Facilities/Food &Beverage Commission, five appointments, one-year term;
- Nashville Utility Service Board, two appointments, Nashville Municipal Utilities users only, four-year term;
- Nashville Police Merit Commission, two appointments, four-year term.
Nashville Town Manager Sandie Jones weighed in on the importance of community involvement and engagement, especially for new and young people in the community.
“The more people that are involved in our community, the better our community can become,” she said.
“This is an opportunity to make your voice heard and be part of the common good.”
