Tree planting opportunities

A Lake Monroe Water Fund project to plant willow stakes and trees along Clay Lick Creek to help prevent erosion. This project is funded by grants from the Duke Energy Foundation and the Smithville Charitable Foundation. Duke Energy volunteers will be providing t-shirts to everyone who volunteers.

Willow stake planting will be Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 to install 600 willow stakes into the banks of Clay Lick Creek to help reduce erosion.

Tree planting will be Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day) to plant 900 native trees and shrubs along Clay Lick Creek to help reduce erosion. Rain dates will be Friday, April 28 (Arbor Day) and Saturday, April 29.

Local goat farm open for tours

BELMONT — Visit the Goat Conspiracy farm, 6022 Kent Road, and meet goats, including recent baby goats, and chickens, and see where milk and cheese are made.

Goat Yoga will be Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, April 30 at 11 a.m. The cost is $25 per participant.

Make your own soap at soap workshops on Sunday, April 2 and 30, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $90.

Attend a workshop on raising and caring for goats on Sunday, April 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost is $35.

Goat Conspiracy offers weekly farm visits and tours every Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 1 and 2 p.m. Farm tours and visits are $15 per person and preregistration is required. To register for a farm visit/tour, sign up at thegoatconspiracy.com/visit-the-farm.

Brown County Bikes hosting first event

Join Brown County Bikes for the first annual Brown County Enduro Bike Fest Clinics on May 13 and 14 in Brown County State Park.

Buy and save $100 for the whole weekend of clinics or pick and choose what clinics interest you.

Saturday, May 13 will include:

Fundamentals Clinic, 9 a.m. to noon, co-ed, $100

Fundamentals Clinic, 9 a.m. to noon, women only, $100

Mini-Jump Clinic, 1 to 4 p.m., co-ed, $150

Mini-Jump Clinic 1 to 4 p.m., women’s only, $150

Sunday, May 14 will include:

Intermediate/Advanced Skills Clinic 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., lunch break from noon to 1 p.m., co-ed, $300

The cost for the full weekend clinic is $450.

Coaches are certified and professionally trained from Bicycle Instructors Certification Program (BICP) and/or Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association (PMBIA).

There will be have free demo bikes from Transition and KONA all weekend long at Hesitation Point in Brown County State Park.

Free demo bikes cannot be used for clinics. The bikes are only for test rides on the trails for the weekend. Call Brown County Bikes to reserve or rent a bike from Brown County Bikes at 812-200-1115.
